From isolated Beaver Island in Lake Michigan in 2022, the MAEOE Conference Team is taking you to the Sunrise side our Great State in 2023.
Lake Huron will be our Great Lake and Alpena our host city. The Northeast side of the lower peninsula is called Michigan's undiscovered sanctuary for a good reason. You will pleasantly surprised by the amazing natural resources and unique field trips this conference and locale will offer.
This conference will be back to the standard schedule of pre-conference field trips on Thursday and sessions starting Friday morning running through Sunday noon format.

Call for Proposals
The 2023 Conference in Alpena will be a great experience. Michigan’s undiscovered sanctuary will offer tremendous field trips and other sessions which will provide environmental and outdoor educators an enjoyable and learned weekend.
Our 2023 Call for Proposal form includes all types of sessions (breakouts, workshops, and field trips).
Please read the entire form before submitting. In 2023, we want to emphasize sessions on the Great Lakes, climate change, outdoor education, and natural history. Proposals with connections to Beaver Island and Lake Michigan may achieve a higher priority. Environmental/outdoor education sessions based on programs that demonstrate diversity and inclusivity will also garner attention by the selection committee.
Also, be aware that presenters are expected to pay the conference registration fee unless they only plan to present and NOT be included in any other conference events/sessions.
