The history, scenery, flora and fauna on Beaver Island create a unique destination conference. The most significant change from past conferences, due to ferry schedules, is a Friday – Monday schedule. The full conference is three nights and eight meals! Helpful information on schedule, transportation, lodging and fees are on other pages. Here are some dates and deadlines to keep in mind.

To assist in your planning, the MAEOE conference committee has determined the projected conference fees. These are subject to change prior to actual online registration in June. Prices include meals from dinner Friday, September 30 through breakfast, Monday, October 3 (8 meals), plus three nights lodging and registration fees. This is one night and several meals more than recent MAEOE conferences. Your conference fee total will be dependent on your choice of lodging. Please read through the LODGING GUIDE before registering. The fees below are all-inclusive of your conference with the exception of the transportation to and from the island and any field trips that have fees.

Tier One: Faculty Housing $450

Tier Two: Dorm Units $350

Tier Three: Campground Cabin Units $325

Tier Four: Campground Sites $275

Lodging on your own Option: $200

These fees are all based on full conference registration at the MAEOE member price.  Registrations fees for nonmembers, students and seniors will appear when registration opens in June.

For more information on the lodging options, check out the Lodging Guide.

TRANSPORTATION

The 2022 conference schedule is being built around the main transportation schedule to and from Beaver Island.

Ferry Ride : The Emerald Isle is a two-hour boat trip in good weather. The 2022 ferry ticket price is $27.50 one-way for an adult passenger. A typical vehicle is $100 one-way but is not needed unless you wish to bring a vehicle to the island. CMU will provide shuttle vans to and from the boat dock and all
field trips.

Plane : You can also fly to the island in 15-20 minutes on one of two airlines. Both airlines rates are about $55-$60 one-way to Beaver Island ($110-$120 round trip). CMU shuttles will pick you and deliver you to the airfield. This is an incredibly beautiful flight, less than double the price and one/eighth the travel time.

Remember: You are responsible for your transportation to and from the conference. CMU will provide shuttle vans to and from boat docks and all field trips.

For full Transportation Information, check out the Transportation Guide.
