PAST CONFERENCES
Want to take a look at conferences we've done in the past? Check out some of the cool locations we held conferences and all of the things that we've learned!
2020
The 2020 MAEOE Conference was cancelled in early June when the Central Michigan University Biological Station, our host site, closed their food service due to Covid 19 concerns. Other logistical issues also solidified the move to cancel. An attempt was made to restructure a smaller conference at the RAM Center on the same dates but that too became a victim of Covid 19. MAEOE held several virtual sessions in September of 2020, including its annual membership meeting, to keep members connected and informed of the organizations continued growth and scope of projects. We look forward to the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti conference in 2021.
2018
The 2018 conference was held at the Blue Water Convention Center in Port Huron, Michigan. This year’s conference helped make unique connections. With several field trips to Canada, a Canadian Keynote speaker, and several breakout sessions conducted by Canadian educators, this conference helped provide many new program ideas and perspectives.
2017
The 2017 Conference was held at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. This year, MAEOE celebrated 30 years with an exciting variety of unique workshops, field trips and networking opportunities for educators of all kinds. That’s three decades of promoting environmental literacy and connecting folks with nature throughout the state!
2016
The 2016 conference was held at the Kellogg Biological Station in Hickory Corners Michigan. This conference site offered many opportunities, where you could find experimental ponds, forests, pastures and a dairy, and the nation’s only Long-Term Ecology Research (LTER) site focused solely on agricultural
and the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center (GLBRC) which investigates the sustainability of cellulosic biofuels.
